Yiwu
Located in the middle of Zhejiang province, 100 km south of its capital Hangzhou, Yiwu is home to about 1.8 million people. Also known as “the International Trade City”, it hosts the Futian Market, the world’s largest wholesale market for small commodities.
Yiwu represents 1.6% of China’s GDP and about 1,200 containers are exported daily from this city. The Futian Market houses more than 80,000 showrooms of an immense variety, perfectly organised and distributed by categories. It is open from 8:30 to 17:30 every day, including Saturdays and Sundays, closing only during Chinese New Year.

Guangzhou & Shenzhen
Guangzhou, often referred to as Canton, is the capital of Guangdong province in the south of China. With more than 10 million people, it is famous for its Canton Fair and for the huge trading opportunities it offers.
Shenzhen is one of the newest cities in China, called the hi-tech city: on the border with Hong Kong, it is home to most of the consumer-electronics related products. You can walk around its markets and find endless possibilities.
The Guangzhou market is not as organised as Yiwu and moving around can be a hassle, but that also makes it quite interesting. Focusing on garments, shoes, fashion accessories and electronics, it is a gold mine for anyone who wants to develop ideas in the fashion industry.
Foshan
At a 40-minute drive from Guangzhou there is a town called Foshan, the ceramics city. Toilet seats, wash basins and ceramic tiles are well concentrated here, together with general furniture such as sofas, dining tables and chairs.
If your line is home, hospitality or construction, this is where the container is loaded — and where quality control matters more than anywhere else.
